Atelier DE Distillation à l'Ancienne DE la Lavender au Vercors
Operated by Distillerie des 4 Vallées
Overview
We don't talk about distillation here, you live it. The “old-fashioned distilling” workshop is an immersive experience to understand the gestures of the trade: you collect, observe, smell and leave with your bottle. For 2 hours, you start with a clear context: what an agricultural distillery is, what you distill, and how a still transforms a plant into an essential oil. Then head to the fields: sickle in hand, you cut the lavender, group it into bales and return to the distillery where the preheated still is ready to work. The rest takes place “at the heart of the machines”: observation of the steam/condensation cycle and visit of the restored stills. The workshop concludes with a sensory sequence: olfactory to differentiate lavender and lavender, tasting of craft syrup with Vercors water and delivery of your souvenir bottle.
